Cross Over Two Bibles

These clients had me design and build a second-storey post and beam structure over their existing log home.

They had found a pair of doors in an antique store and wanted me to build a closet incorporating them, which I did.

But the real story is in the doors.

Apparently, they were built in the 1800s in England using wood that came from Canada. They were originally installed in a church.

The Build

The Doors

But what made them remarkable wasn’t just their appearance.

These doors were originally crafted in the 1800s in England,
from wood that had been harvested in Canada.

They were installed in a church.
Then, decades later after the building was lost
they made the journey back across the Atlantic.

The Craft

A custom closet was designed and built to frame the doors not replace them.
Every joint, reveal, and proportion was carefully considered so the doors remained the focal point.

The Result
